Photo Optimisation & Enhancement
For online sales and/or product promotion
Optimising photos improves the visual appeal and "draw" of a product or property
If you are promoting real estate or products online and want to strengthen the allure of your photos, please see the images below to see what a little photo enhancement can do. Remember, a picture says a thousand words and can lead to a faster and more lucrative sale! Photo optimisation can correct pictures to show buyers the home or product as it really is. Great photos are the cornerstone of internet promotion.
We can make photos:
- Lighter and brighter
- Sharper and crisper
- Warmer and more inviting
- Optimised for quick internet download
|
How?
|
- By correcting colour fade and/or dark photos
- By correcting blue or yellow tints
- By correcting over saturated images (the image colour being too intense)
- By cropping the image to highlight a room and /or focus attention onto a product
- By removing superfluous backgrounds to highlight product

Interior photos often appear much darker than the room actually is, especially when most house sales don't involve a professional photographer. Correcting a photo that is too dark often makes the space appear larger and definitely more inviting.
Points to consider if you take your own photos:
-
If you can take pictures when there's some sun coming into the room this can create a very warm and appealing ambience. Try to get the sun without taking the shot directly into the sun as this will make the picture dark
-
Fresh flower arrangements or house plants placed "just so" make a room more inviting
Picture Notes:
The picture to the left was taken with sun coming into the room, but was not taken "into" the sun. The enhanced photo was lightened and de-saturated slightly to correct the over intensified colour and shadows that can happen in photos when taken in a lot of sunshine. This makes the photo warmer and more appealing.
- Put a piece of paper over the right side images to hide the enhanced photos and then do the same to the left. What set of photos makes you want to contact the realtor more?

Clean and polish... make the product look as appealing as it can
-
The background is as important as the product. Take your product photos on a beautiful wood floor not on the concrete floor of the warehouse or garage with "extras" in the background.
-
If you want to just show the product, consider taking the shot on a black, white or coloured background to see what enhances the product more.
-
If you already have your photos, Caniwi Design can remove superfluous backgrounds to highlight product. Removing backgrounds from product shots can lead to a very crisp image and can lend a crisp and clean feel to your website
-
Take in-situ photos as they are very effective for some products e.g. the vanity in the beautiful bathroom often "sells" more than just the product shot alone. A lot of people cannot visualise a product in a setting and so need the setting in order to truly view the product.
